Synopsys Microelectronics Olympiad 2024

Siliconcedars was as a major sponsor of the Synopsys Microelectronics Olympiad in Lebanon, which has hosted at LAU on Friday May 31 2024.

The competition took place in the form of a written multiple-choice exam, with the highest scoring university student in Lebanon being invited by Synopsys to participate in the international competition in Armenia.

In order to proceed with the preparations and the promotion campaign, and in order to ensure maximum appeal and reach, Siliconcedars sponsored the event in the following manner:

• Award monetary cash prizes to the top 3 finishers in the competition as per the following:
  • 1st place winner: Cash prize amount $2000
  • 2nd place winner: Cash prize $1000
  • 3rd place winner: Cash prize $500
• Possible internship/job opportunities for top performers were offered.
• First place winner got hired by siliconcedars

Ther result was the following:

• The School of Engineering at LAU successfully organized and hosted the first stage of the International Microelectronics Olympiad in Lebanon on Friday May 31. 36 student participants from universities all over Lebanon were present.
• Mr. Mohammad El Sheikh from the American University of Beirut won first place by achieving the highest score on the test. Mohammad will therefore represent Lebanon in the second and final stage of the competition in Armenia in November. Mohammad also received a cash prize of $2000 from SiliconCedars for his achievement.
• Mr. Charbel Boutros, who is a third year undergraduate student from university (Lebanese American University) finished in second place, which bodes well for our programs and our collaboration with Synopsys
